3 STARS- TOO ABSURD TO DIGEST
After reading some of the reviews here, I really can't stop thinking of my review. Am I the only one who found this book somehow irrational and a little silly?
Let's start from the beggining. This book was put in my to-read-list, after searching some book titles in a large bookstore. The cover caught my attention and I thought "Finally, a different and a special book I should read, because I like forbidden stories!" The summary didn't reveal an...y details about what kind of a forbidden love is this. I discovered it some time later, after I logged into my goodreads accound and searched this book. Look, I'm surely not a narrow minded person or the one who will hate someone just because I've learnt his/her sexual urges or something. Not at all. I wasn't this shocked after reading an extended summary which revealed some details of the story,so I guess I wanted to give it a try.
Before I continue with my impressions, I'd like to say that in my opinion, a book needs to be well-written to catch my eye and to encourage me to move on. As a reader, I like to read a novel with correct grammar, vocabulary and punctuation. In "Forbidden", I've noticed some expressive errors and at times the usage of poor vocabulary.
Anyways, after reading"Forbidden" I had many conflicting views. First of all, there's a strong imagery, and heart-breaking narrations. There's a well-formed outside environment which will make your heart ache every time you read about Maya's and Logan's fights with their siblings or their mother. Then, we have the love story. Inside this disaster, a love story was born between two siblings, who are actually the only true parents their family ever had. In the end, someone dies and the other one lives to protect this shattered family.
I really believe this book would be perfect if it was only about a screwed family life (sorry for my vocabulary). The love between the two siblings was unnecessary and just "too much". I think all this story is silly and at times it made me feel silly, you know like offending my intelligence.
This book was about family and how a ruined family life can lead to unnatural phenomena like incest. Just read again all the sentence. I think it's just too much for a book to accomplish.
I love reading books based on reality and maybe this is why I didn't find this book as appealing as I thought it would be. To be honest, I questioned many times myself, if I would be able of something like that, or if siblings fell in love are just victims of fate. However,it's just too absurd to me, for a reader to digest all these facts at once.
